Swing Dance Sampler
There are many Swing style dances which can be matched with many types of music. Which one is right for you? Grab a partner and let’s find out! Have fun learning the basic steps for the Charleston, East Coast Swing with a Rockabilly variation, Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag and others. Each class, students will sample a different dance and get a feel for music and stylings that go with it. This fun walk through swing dance is a great way for new dancers to check out a dance type before committing to a more dedicated class. Partner required, but no dance experience is necessary. Beginning (East Coast) Jitterbug
Swing Dance is HOT and very cool! Jitterbug is an easy and fun swing dance that can be done to all kinds of music. It’s a lively dance with lots of style and no complicated footwork. You’ll learn the basic steps and some showy moves, and will explore different music styles to dance to. You will be able to go out dancing by class end! Partner required, but no previous dance experience needed. Class is four weeks, beginning Tuesday, February 23 through March 29, 2016. No classes on 3/8 & 3/15. Beginning Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is the signature swing dance of the 1930s that works well with many music styles. Learn this eight-count partner dance which is fun, stylish, and a great next step for anyone wanting to build their swing dance skills. Students will learn the basic swing out, inside and outside turns, and a Lindy circle step. Partner required, Beginning jitterbug class is useful, but no previous dance experience is required. Offered Fall 2016: Continuing Jitterbug: Have you learned the basic jitterbug steps and need some new moves? This three-week continuation class builds on the moves taught in Beginning Jitterbug class with additional turns, kicks, and spins to spice up your social dancing! Lolly kicks, Texas Tommy, and Around the World moves will give you some new ideas! Partner required, and students should have taken Beginning Jitterbug or be able to do basic East Coast Swing step combinations, and inside and outside turns.
